What Is I-kota?

I-kota is a relationship based general contractor, specializing in the construction of multi-family affordable housing. I-kota has a competitive advantage in our ability to recruit high level talent. The work ethic of this company has origins deeply rooted in the agricultural heartland. Why do we recruit “small town” and “farm raised” individuals? Speaking from our own experiences, when you have a break down on a piece of equipment in a field in an extremely rural area, you are frequently “up a creek without a paddle”. There is not a mechanic, neighbor or passing car that you can wave down for help. You are faced with a problem and need to problem solve. We feel this mentality, ingrained in an individual, ties together a “can do attitude” with a true engineer’s mentality of problem solving, sprinkled in with deep roots of community. We feel these attributes create a culture of team work, problem solving, and highly competitive winners that are willing to push through a barrier to accomplish the task at hand. Although many of the early employees of I-kota were rural based, we have learned to identify these qualities within people raised in any area of the world. We put a tremendous effort into communication skills, by instilling the “I-kota Way” into each of our projects. • Trust & Respect are Earned • Do what you say you’re going to do • We’re spending the clients’ money–not ours • Be transparent and factual • Don’t “BS” your way through–know what you’re talking about • Tell your client what you’re doing for them • Feedback is a GIFT–good or bad–ask for it • Greet our clients, hold the door open, bring back chivalry • Bring solutions to problems, not just problems • Provide Results, not excuses
