What Is HopeWest?

Created through a community-wide vision, HopeWest provides comprehensive, expert, and collaborative care for those facing serious illness and grief. We are a nonprofit organization serving western Colorado in Mesa, Delta, Montrose, Ouray, and Rio Blanco counties.\n\nWe cared for 81 patients and their families in 1993 – our first year of operation. Today, we serve more than 7,000 square miles with five offices and a state-of-the-art HopeWest Hospice Care Center. With a staff of 425 and more than 1,300 volunteers, we provide care to more than 2,500 patients and well-over 1,500 individuals coping with grief every year in the counties we serve.\n\nWe are so much more than a hospice or health care organization. We have grown and expanded services to become a national respected model for creative and effective hospice and palliative care delivered in private homes, skilled nursing facilities, assisted-living facilities and our own Hospice Care Center.\n\nWe are woven into the communities we serve through our Board of Directors, Foundation Board and Advisory Boards in every community where we have an office. Philanthropy is key to helping support the mission and is raised through grants, individual and corporate gifts, events and support from our retail businesses – Spoons bistro & bakery, Heirlooms for Hospice, Charmed by Heirlooms and Artful Cup. Our unique retail outlets help to support our mission through the generosity of the communities we serve.\n\nWe’re proud of our tradition of collaboration and innovation with our generous communities. It’s our friends and neighbors across the Western Slope who make this type of care possible for anyone in need.
