What Is HomeAid?

HomeAid is a national nonprofit developer of housing for families and individuals experiencing homelessness. Through the generosity and involvement of builders, speciality contractors, suppliers, consultants, financial institutions, foundations, the private sector and with the involvement of local government, HomeAid develops, builds and preserves a variety of housing, including emergency, interim, transitional, permanent supportive and affordable housing. In addition, this includes resource/navigation centers that provide support services to those experiencing or at-risk of homelessness. HomeAid partners with hundreds of nonprofit organizations that provide the housing and support services that help residents move toward self sufficiency, such as education and job skills training, financial counseling, physical and emotional support and much more. Founded in 1989 by the Orange County chapter of the Building Industry Association of Southern California (BIA/SC), an affiliate of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), HomeAid has expanded throughout the country to 20 chapters in 14 states and three national offices: Irvine, CA (headquarters), Denver, CO, and Augusta, GA. HomeAid has provided housing for over 365,000 individuals who have experienced homelessness, including: A working family unable to afford the rising cost of housing An individual receiving or seeking mental health treatment A parent forced to pay for their child's life-saving medicine vs. rent A mother and her children seeking refuge from domestic abuse A victim of a natural disaster A pregnant teen with no support A youth in or aging out of the foster care system A survifor of sex trafficing A military veteran with disabilities who needs housing Victims of natural disasters and other catastrophe HomeAid's mission is "building new lives for homeless families and individuals through housing, community outreach and awareness."
