Hogs Head consists of Hogs Head Golf Club (HHGC) and the Lodge at\nHogs Head. The golf course is newly designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.\n(RTJ) and gets its name from its location on the Hogs Head peninsula\n(a marine bearing point marking the opening to Ballinskelligs Bay from\nthe North Atlantic).\nThe project was the inspiration of Mr. Tony Alvarez II and Mr. Bryan\nMarsal, to provide a place built by friends for friends who share the love,\ncamaraderie and fellowship of the game of golf.\nThe Hogs Head Golf Club’s founders directed RTJ to design a course\nthat would possess certain key qualities including naturalness, variety,\nelements of classic design and strategy, combined with a fun walkable\nexperience, capped off with a warm and friendly 19th hole.\nIn terms of naturalness, Hogs Head Golf Club has the tremendous advantage\nof vistas capturing mountains in the background, the Finglas River flowing\nthrough the course, the majestic cliff holes overlooking the Ballinskelligs Bay\nand the charm of the seaside village of Waterville. This rich visual tapestry has\nbeen combined with a links feel offering a natural flow across the landscape.\nHogs Head Golf course offers a variety of playing options and is divided into a\nRiverside Nine and a Seaside Nine, where both the river and sea play important\nroles respectively in the defence of par.
