Founded: The Morning Herald was the first daily newspaper in Hagerstown, beginning publication in 1873. The Mail converted to daily in 1890. The two newspapers merged in 1920 and were purchased by Schurz Communications in 1960. The Daily Mail, published in the afternoon, and The Morning Herald were merged into one morning paper, The Herald-Mail, in October 2007. The Herald-Mail newspaper is published daily Monday through Sunday.
