What Is Hawaii Health Systems Corporation?

Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC), Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC), a public benefit corporation, is the nation's fourth largest public hospital system with an operating budget of close to $320 million (of which over 95% is covered by corporation revenues) and 3,400 dedicated, caring employees staffing 1,250 beds on five islands to provide quality care to the people of Hawaii. In addition to serving the needs of their communities, the facilities provide healthcare to thousands of Neighbor Island visitors and tourists each day of the year. HHSC is governed by a Board of Directors. The 13-member board is responsible for developing policies, procedures, and rules necessary to plan, operate, and manage the hospitals.
