What Is Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville?

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville (HFHGC) was founded in 1991 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. We work with low-income families, volunteers and the communities of greater Charlottesville to create simple, decent, affordable housing. Over the past two decades, we have built homes in partnership with more than 160 families. The scope of our mission and vision continues to broaden, deepen and evolve as we seek to combat the local affordable housing crisis. In the past few years, we have instituted a bold new approach, shifting our focus from single homes to whole neighborhoods and communities in a movement we call the New Paradigm for Affordable Housing. HFHGC strives to be an agent of hope and to strengthen community in everything we do.
