What Is Gourmet?
Gourmet Inc., (t/a Seven Seas Restaurant) has been providing upscale Chinese cuisine and catering services to the D.C. Metropolitan area since 1987. Past and current customers include: Marriot Hotels; Maryland Governor Martin O' Malley; Baltimore Aquarium; National Institutes of Health; Embassy of China; Library of Congress; University of Maryland; and Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. What the critics say about us: "In a time when most American patrons of Chinese restaurants ate packaged, market-fileted or even frozen seafood without blinking and frequently shuddered at the sight of whole fish, even roasted or fried, with heads still on, Seven Seas was a rare pleasure...Cruise the tanks of gleaming tilapia, grouper or rockfish, crabs and Manila clams, and you'll understand." Eve Zibart, Washington Post. "Some diners might blanch at meeting their meal face to face, but the rewards are great. Whole fish—grouper, tilapia, or black bass, depending on the season—are best steamed and covered with ginger and scallions." Todd Kliman, Washingtonian Magazine. "The kitchen also does a nice job with Manila clams with shredded ginger, and scallops on the shell with black-bean sauce. For the seafood-shy, black-pepper beef short ribs, spicy tofu with chili oil, shredded pork with hot sauce, and roast duck Canton-style are all deftly done." Cynthia Hacinli, Washingtonian Magazine.
