Goody Clancy is one of the leading architecture, planning, and preservation firms in the country. We have been charting new design frontiers for nearly half a century, beginning with our first commission in 1955 to build a "House of the Future" that pioneered new structural uses for plastics in housing. We proceed from the belief that the most elegant design responses are technically and socially relevant to their time and place. Our best work comes from the collaborative, evolving relationships we have built with our clients, many of whom have been repeat clients for more than thirty years. We have an unusually broad and diverse portfolio. Our primary areas of practice include housing, educational facilities, scientific research complexes, civic buildings and historic buildings, as well as planning and urban design. By solving design problems for such a wide range of clients, we are constantly acquiring new perspectives and expertise that enrich our work on future projects. We are a full-service, interdisciplinary firm. Our comprehensive planning and urban design division complements and strengthens our architectural work with its in-depth expertise in such areas as campus planning, "Main Street" revitalization, and urban waterfront development. Similarly, our preservation team of architects, preservationists, and conservators contributes the technical expertise requisite for solving the many challenges of restoration work. From our base in Boston, we work on projects across the country. We have a professional staff of more than 110 employees, led by nine principals and sixteen associates. Our work has been published extensively and has won numerous accolades for design excellence from such groups as the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the United Nations, the Urban Land Institute, and the Congress for the New Urbanism. We have won more than one hundred design awards, including three national AIA Honor awards.
