What Is Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP)?

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is a public research centre affiliated with the Germans Trias i Pujol University hospital. The institute is dedicated to biomedical research organized in nine health areas. It is based on the Can Ruti Biomedical Campus and is accredited as a centre of excellence by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) of the Spanish Government. In this capacity it is the umbrella organization that coordinates research projects in diverse centres on the campus. The IGTP is one of the centres in the research cluster in Catalonia, Spain, coordinated by the CERCA institute of the Catalan Government. The mission of the IGTP is to promote and undertake translational research with maximum efficiency in all its different institutions to improve people?s health and quality of life. The research model of the IGTP is focussed on multi-disciplinary teams working to translate results to clinical practice. To do this the IGTP aims to recruit and retain talent to complete its objectives, while actively promoting the transfer of knowledge and innovation and develop new business models in the biomedical sector. The IGTP maintains state-of-the-art technical facilities that provide services for in-house and external research. Transversal projects such as the GCAT-Genomes for life are networked in the international research system and the purpose-built Centre for Comparative Medicine and Bioimaging (CMCiB) is an important driver for international alliances in research, innovation and training.
