What Is Foster and Associates CPA?

We are the “new kids on the block”. Well, not quite. Although we had a major ownership change in 2018, our current and former owners have been serving the Portland Metro area for over 45 years. Our firm focuses on delivering accounting, tax and financial statement planning and preparation services to individuals and small and mid‐sized businesses in a variety of industries, and our team members have worked in small, mid‐sized and “Big 4” firms before joining us. For our clients this means that we deliver the expertise of a large firm, in a closely knit smaller firm environment where we all know each other’s names and what each person does. Our clients recognize and appreciate that. Within the Portland metro community, we are well known for delivering high quality services, having a strong technical team with diverse experience and having an insatiable appetite for tackling the IRS and state taxing agencies (one of our specialties) having completed more than 250 Offers in Compromise. Among the local legal and CPA fraternities, we are also known as the firm where CPAs come to semi‐retire. We have no “forced” or mandatory retirement age and we treat these esteemed CPA colleagues with dignity, affording them the opportunity to retire on their own timing. At present, this Leadership team consists of two current Partners and eight former Partners. Excluding the current Managing Partner, six of these team members have also served as Managing Partners at F&A or other firms they once owned. What this means for you is that we have a unique pool of more than 300 years of senior leadership knowledge and experience behind everything we do for you. Also, what this means for our younger team members is that they have training and mentorship from these elite leaders at their disposal. These two attributes contribute to our uniqueness and is an integral part of our strategic planning. It truly defines us as a “one of a kind” firm. It is our strongest competitive differentiator.
