What Is Fort Walton Beach Medical Center?

Fort Walton Beach Medical Center is a 247 bed acute care facility accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and licensed by the State of Florida. We are located on the beautiful Emerald Coast of Florida and have proudly served the needs of our communities since 1974. We are dedicated to providing our communites with quality healthcare in a warm and accomodating environment. We have a recently completed a $45 million dollar expansion and renovation project which included the opening of Okaloosa/Walton Counties first open heart surgery program. The recently completed expansion includes the addition of six new operating room suites which increased the number of OR rooms from seven to twelve. Included are two cardiovascular suites, two orthopaedic/neurosurgery suites and two general purpose suites. The new outpatient surgery area has the ability to accomodate twenty four patients in private enclosed rooms as compared to the previous twelve. "The privacy of our patients in all areas is always of utmost importance to us. The new outpatient surgery area now affords our patients the privacy they deserve", says Wayne Campbell, Chief Executive Officer. Also recently completed is the new thirty-three bed all private room Progressive Care wing, a new 23-bed Intensive Care/Coronary Care Unit, a new MRI/Cat Scan Suite, a new dedicated Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and two Cardiac Catheterization Labs. In addition the project included the renovation of all existing patient care units and a new facade for the exterior of the facility. CEO, Wayne Campbell states, "We are proud to be able to grow with our community and will continue to strive to exceed the expectations of our patients and their families."
