What Is European Recycling Platform Ireland?

The European Recycling Platform (ERP), is a compliance scheme set up to ensure cost-effective implementation of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive and the Waste Battery Directive through innovative waste management strategies for the benefit of participating member companies, their customers and the environment. ERP Ireland was established in 2005 as a result of the success and expansion of ERP across Europe. In 2017, we collected an average in the order of 9.6Kg of electronic waste per person in Ireland. The target for household portable battery collections as per the Regulations was 45%. ERP exceeded this target with a collection rate of 51%. This marks an impressive achievement and reflects the remarkable shift in the public’s attitude towards recycling.
