Founded in 1993, ESG (Engineering Seismology Group) is a multi-disciplined engineering and geophysical technology firm that specializes in delivering passive seismic monitoring solutions to clients in the petroleum, mining and geotechnical industries. Microseismic monitoring uses the principles of earthquake seismology to listen to a rockmass during mining or oil & gas operations, to map out how the rock is behaving in response to those operations. We monitor for induced seismicity and use this information to gain a better understanding of how the rockmass (mine, reservoir, structure) is behaving in response to our client’s operations. Operators can use this enhanced understanding to increase workplace safety, reduce environmental or operating risk, and optimize production techniques in accordance with the new information they receive.
