What Is Ducere Technologies?
Ducere Technologies focuses on creating intuitive, unobtrusive and user-friendly wearable technology innovations. The brainchild of Krispian Lawrence and Anirudh Sharma, graduates of the University of Michigan and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, respectively, the Hyderabad-based company was set up in 2011 with the aim of taking wearable technology to the people. Ducere launched the world's first interactive haptic footwear under the brand name Lechal in 2014. Available as a shoe or an insole, Lechal footwear began as an academic project and was born out of a simple impulse to use technology to help the visually-impaired navigate their worlds better. Today, it is a fashion and lifestyle brand specializing in disruptive innovations that smoothly integrate into the everyday. Ducere's mission is perfectly encapsulated in Lechal's tagline “Innovated in Indiaâ€. This phrase refers to our roots and ambitions and also speaks to the company's core, which is a focus on path-breaking design and engineering. Tinkerers and thinkers of all stripes and from all fields – industrial design, robotics, mechanical engineering, visual communications, computer engineering, UI/UX design, to name just a few – find a home at Ducere. With an eye on fostering Indian talent and bringing to the frontlines of the wearable tech revolution, Ducere has gone from a duo working in an apartment to a dynamic team of 60 in less than three years. We are a young team – the average age of the office is 25, and it makes Ducere an exceptionally fun place to work. The team is encouraged to ideate at will, without taking into account market considerations, potential sales or even consumer demand. We believe in investing in big dreams rather than big data. With a slew of products in development and big plans for growth, Ducere aims to continue to explore in a new field with the best talent. Change is good, but disruptive change is better!
