What Is District of Columbia Department of Human Resources?
DCHR provides human resources management services that strengthen individual and organizational performance for majority of the Districts 35,000 employee workforce in various capacities; ranging from benefits to staffing services. Our mission is to foster a world-class culture that attracts, develops and retains a well-qualified diverse workforce to carry out the District’s operations for the benefit of its residents, visitors and customers. We strive to improve processes and programs for the betterment of District government employees, residents, applicants and other stakeholders. We work to ensure we retain a workforce that is comprised of individuals with integrity, character and dedication to Mayor Bowser’s vision for the District. DCHR’s is counseled from the Office of the Director which also oversees the Office of the General Counsel and the agency’s six other divisions: Administrative Services, Audit and Compliance, Policy and Staffing Services, Workforce Development, Benefits and Retirement, Compensation and Classification.
