What Is Craft Alliance Center of Art and Design?

Established in 1964, Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design provides inspiration and education in contemporary craft to a national community of artists, collectors, students and the art-viewing public. It does this through every creative stage by exhibiting artists' work, educating all levels of students, encouraging art collectors and offering free classes and family programs. The organization moved to its headquarters location in The University City Loop in 1969, which provided more exhibition space as well as art studios for the instruction of classes in the craft media. In 2008, Craft Alliance opened a second facility in the Kranzberg Arts Center. Located in the heart of the Grand Center Arts District, the additional facility allowed the organization to reach a broader city population, increase programming and collaborate with neighboring arts organizations. Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design is a funded member of the Arts & Education Council of Greater St. Louis and receives support from the Regional Arts Commission, the Missouri Arts Council, individuals, corporations and foundations.
