What Is Covalent Lithium?

Covalent Lithium Pty Ltd (Covalent Lithium) (previously Western Australia Lithium Pty Ltd) is the managing entity for the purpose of the 50/50 unincorporated joint venture between Kidman Resources Limited (KDR:ASX) and Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM: NYSE). A covalent bond, in chemical terms, is a strong, molecular bond between atoms through the sharing of electrons. The name of Covalent Lithium was inspired by this and represents the strong bond between both SQM and Kidman, involving people from many nationalities including from Chile and Australia, coming together to build a remarkable, world class lithium project in Western Australia. Covalent Lithium is developing, and will operate, the Mt Holland Lithium Project which will include the construction and operation of a fully integrated mine, concentrator and refinery in Western Australia. The mine and concentrator will be located 110km south-east of Southern Cross in the state's Goldfields region, on the Earl Grey hard-rock lithium deposit . The refinery for processing the lithium concentrate is currently proposed to be located in the Kwinana Industrial Area with an anticipated annual output of 44,000t of battery-grade lithium hydroxide. Lithium is a resource aligning with the global demand for battery materials being driven by the growth in electric vehicle sales and support of renewable energy generation. For further information about SQM and Kidman, including updates on the Mount Holland Lithium Project, please refer to kidmanresources.com.au and www.sqm.com.
