CorStone develops and implements resilience-based interventions and research initiatives to improve the health, education, and self-sufficiency of marginalized adults and youth around the world. Personal Resilience is the capacity to 'bounce back' and thrive despite significant adversity. Personal Resilience is not an innate talent or quality. Rather, it's the result of a set of skills and supports that can be learned and cultivated. We believe that within every challenge lies the potential for personal growth and positive change in our mental, emotional and physical health, personal relationships, and professional lives. We believe that the capacity to thrive can be harnessed in all of useven in those who seem the most vulnerable . We focus our efforts on the marginalized, the economically disadvantaged, and the under-served. We believe that cultivating personal resilience represents a significant paradigm shift in worldwide efforts to improve health, increase academic achievement among youth, and reduce poverty. We consider building personal resilience to be a foundational step in helping people to thriveone which is often missing in current global development policies and programs. Delivered in partnership with governments, schools and local community-based organizations, our train-the-trainer programs are effective, sustainable and scalable in even the most low-resourced settings.
