What Is Cook Inlet Region?

CIRI owns more than 600,000 acres of surface and 1.3 million acres of subsurface land, primarily in Southcentral Alaska. It is aggressively pursuing real estate development opportunities including office, retail, residential and mixed use developments on its properties in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Texas and other states. CIRI and Browman Development Co. are currently developing what will become Alaska's largest shopping and entertainment center on a 95-acre parcel of CIRI land in northeast Anchorage. The company is also developing or exploring oil, gas, coal, gravel and wind power projects on its lands in Alaska. CIRI and Nabors Industries Ltd., the world's largest land-based oil drilling company, are 50-50 owners of Alaska Interstate Construction LLC and Peak Oilfield Service Co. These Anchorage-based companies provide a variety of civil construction, oilfield and mining project services and equipment maintenance services in Alaska and far-east Russia. The company's Alaska tourism division owns and operates several of the state's leading marine day cruise companies and lodges. These include Kenai Fjords Tours and Prince William Sound Cruises & Tours, the 200-room Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, the 108-room Seward Windsong Lodge and the remote Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge on Fox Island in Resurrection Bay. Outside of Alaska, CIRI has investments in the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa near Austin, Texas, and other properties. CIRI is a long-time minority broadcast, wireless and wireline telecommunications investor. It has been the nation's leading minority owner of broadcast properties and provider of personal communications systems (PCS) services. CIRI continues this success through a joint venture with T-Mobile USA, which owns 36 PCS licenses and offers wireless telephone service in markets nationwide, including Seattle, Denver, Indianapolis, San Antonio, Austin and Kansas City. CIRI actively pursues government contracting opportunities. It created a subsidiary, ANC Research & Development LLC, in August 2005 to work on space and missile defense engineering projects, and it is pursuing other government contracting investment opportunities.
