Nestled in the rolling hills of North Louisiana, Ruston is a thriving community that provides all of the resources and advantages of a large city while maintaining a quality of life that remains true to its unique heritage. Ruston is proudly home to Louisiana Tech University, a nationally-ranked university with an enrollment of nearly 13,000 students. Ruston is also known for its 18-block historic downtown district, thriving arts scene, and close-knit community. In addition, Ruston serves as a hub for innovation and industry in North Louisiana. Mayor Ronny Walker has made the growth of Ruston a priority with the Moving Ruston Forward initiative. This initiative includes a multi-use sports complex, new retail developments, infrastructure projects, a city-wide network of shared-use paths, sidewalks and bike lanes, an industrial park, curbside recycling, and more. Ruston has recently been recognized as a Louisiana Certified Retirement Community and was named the 2018 Louisiana Main Street of the Year. In addition, Ruston recently received a $1 million grant for its active transportation project, which is part of the Moving Ruston Forward initiative.
