What Is Chemtool Incorporated?

Chemtool Incorporated, founded in l963, is a privately held corporation that is dedicated to the manufacture, technical service and marketing of lubricant specialties. The core competency for Chemtool is in water and oil based technologies for industrial applications world wide. The main manufacturing facilities and research laboratories are located in Crystal Lake, Illinois, approximately 45 miles northwest of Chicago. New manufacturing and laboratory capacity was built in 1997 in Milan, Michigan. An additional manufacturing facility was built in Tehachapi California in 1998. In 2002, Chemtool Incorporated opened its Diegem, Belgium distribution facility for shipments throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East. In August of 2004 Chemtool purchased a 60,000 square foot facility in Elkhorn Wisconsin. This facility will house the service and distribution division of Chemtool and will also manufacture its die cast lubricants, water treatment products and moldable ceramic product lines. Chemtool has made two acquisitions in the last 10 years. In 1992, Barrington Chemical was acquired. Barrington Chemical was a specialty cleaner and conversion coatings manufacturer based in Brighton, Michigan. This acquisition strengthened our industrial cleaner line and provided a presence in the Detroit marketplace. Also in 1992, Chemtool acquired Metalcote: a specialty, private label manufacturer of lubricating greases based in Minneapolis, Minn. The Metalcote division manufactures private label greases and lubricants for a majority of the major oil companies, agricultural, and consumer markets. Chemtool Incorporated's Crystal Lake facility was ISO 9002 registered in 1994 and registered for QS 9000 certification in 2000 by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). The Milan, Michigan facility is both ISO (1998) and QS 9000(1998) certified. Currently these facilities are registered as ISO 9000:2000 and are scheduled for TS-16949 registration in 2005. Chemtool Incorporated conducts business domestically and internationally and enjoys close business relationships with some of the largest corporations in the automotive, steel, aircraft, and lubrication industries. We value our customers, employees, suppliers and the communities that we serve.
