Charles Penzone Revenue and Competitors

Charles Penzone, who operates five salons and day spas in Central Ohio, is expanding the company again, this time with an eye toward doubling the size of the 35-year-old business by 2010. Charles Penzone Inc. in November acquired the former Hector Gutierrez Salon at the Vista Plaza on Hamilton Road in Gahanna. The company reopened it Nov. 29 as the Studio by Charles Penzone. A Hector Gutierrez Salon continues to operate in Pickerington. Additionally, Penzone is leasing space at the Wedgewood Commerce Center on Presidential Parkway, south of Powell, where he intends to open a Charles Penzone Grand Salon. Penzone estimated the Delaware County salon would debut Feb. 1. "We're pretty excited about this expansion," Penzone said. "We're on pace to double our business in the next five years. We've had double-digit growth for 35 years." The two salons will join three Charles Penzone Grand Salons in Gahanna, Polaris and Dublin, the Q Salon and Day Spa on West Henderson Road in Columbus and Max the Salon on South Third Street in German Village. Penzone also operates the Brittany Group, a 6-year-old company that distributes salon products in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.
