Channel One, Inc., the regional food bank and local food shelf, is located in Rochester, MN. The mission of Channel One is to work in partnership with others and help feed people in need. FOOD BANK The Channel One Food Bank is a member of America’s Second Harvest – the Nation’s Food Bank Network. Acting as a clearinghouse for industry- and government-donated surplus food, Channel One solicits, receives, inventories, repackages, stores and distributes donated surplus food from producers, manufacturers, wholesalers, brokers, and retailers. Channel One distributes the food through a network of more than 180 non-profit charities that feed people in need in SE Minnesota and La Crosse County, WI FOOD SHELF The Channel One Supplemental Food Shelf provides a nominal supply of free food to eligible Olmsted County residents. The food shelf obtains its food supply from the food bank inventory and from food drive donations. MAC & NAPS Channel One participates in the federal commodity distribution program, known in Minnesota as Mothers and Children (MAC) and Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS). The food bank receives federal commodity foods and packs individual nutritionally designed boxes for these at-risk population groups, distributing them throughout the SE Minnesota service area.
