What Is Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR)?

The CIBMTR® (Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research®) is a research collaboration between the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP)/Be The Match® and the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). The CIBMTR collaborates with the global scientific community to advance hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) and cellular therapy worldwide to increase survival and enrich quality of life for patients. The CIBMTR facilitates critical observational and interventional research through scientific and statistical expertise, a large network of transplant centers, and a unique and extensive clinical outcomes database. Our prospective and observational research is accomplished through scientific and statistical expertise, a large network of transplant centers and a clinical database of more than 500,000 patients. Support for the program is provided, in part, by grants and contracts from the National Institute of Health and Health Resources and Services Administration. Successful use of this funding has resulted in the completion of hundreds of studies that positively impact both clinical practice and transplant patients. The CIBMTR is now in the sixteenth year of a robust, collaborative affiliation and outcomes-focused research endeavor. The CIBMTR Coordinating Center spans two campuses, in Milwaukee and Minneapolis, and is committed to supporting the highest level of clinical and health services research.
