Everybody plays a role in Colorado's current health care system, including patients and consumers, providers and institutions, business and insurers. Too often, these players operate in separate circles without transparent information. The result can be confusion, duplication of services and inefficiencies – all which result in higher costs to patients and missed opportunities for improving quality and keeping patients healthy. That's where the non-profit Center for Improving Value in Health Care (CIVHC) comes in. CIVHC is working on changing the payment and delivery system and providing transparent data to enhance consumers' health care experiences, contain costs, and improve the overall health of Coloradans. As the administrator of the Colorado All Payer Claims Database (www.comedprice.org), CIVHC illuminates opportunities for improvement across the entirety of Colorado's health care sectors to support creating an efficient, high-quality and transparent health care system.
