What Is Center for Applied Research Solutions (CARS)?

CARS oversees technical assistance (TA) centers for state and national mental health and substance use disorder prevention initiatives. We have supported hundreds of organizations in expanding their outreach, planning strategically, implementing evidence-based practices, and ensuring future sustainability. We believe passionately that by supporting the bridge between research and practice, our work fosters healthier families and communities. Our main service is providing comprehensive, relevant, responsive TTA to state, local, and community-based grant recipients. We actively promote peer learning and cross-sharing of innovative practices through engaging onsite and distance learning opportunities. We also specialize in translating research into visually appealing, practical resources and tools for diverse audiences. Major projects: * Pacific Southwest Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC): funded by SAMHSA to support mental health agencies and workforce in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, American Samoa, Guam, Republic of Palau, Republic of Marshall Islands, Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, and Federated States of Micronesia. * Project LAUNCH TA Center: early childhood mental health initiative funded by SAMHSA to support state, tribal, territorial, and local grant recipients. * Now Is The Time TA Center: mental health prevention initiative supporting youth, young adults, and their families served by state and tribal Project AWARE and Healthy Transitions grantees: http://www.samhsa.gov/nitt-ta * Community Prevention Initiative: statewide substance use disorder prevention initiative funded by the California Department of Health Care Services: http://www.ca-cpi.org/main.php * LGBTQ TA Center for the California Reducing Disparities Project Phase II: supports implementation pilot projects delivering community-defined effective mental health practices to diverse LGBTQ Californians.
