Our History CardiacAssist Technologies was founded in 1996 by Pittsburgh, PA heart surgery pioneer, Dr. George Magovern and a group of local investors with intent to launch an implantable left ventricular assist device. As Dr. Magovern and his team worked through initial product design they soon realized that there was a critical need for a more short-term percutaneous left ventricular assist device, and the TandemHeart system was born. TandemHeart was the trendsetter that paved the way for competitive short-term heart failure solutions. We've leveraged our 20 plus years of experience to continue down the path set forth by our company founders by expanding beyond the confines of cardiac support to bring breakthrough products to the respiratory support market. We are focused on delivering life support simplified and ensuring that our products are accessible to more patients in more places. We strive to develop innovative, easy to use, temporary life support solutions for patients in need. On April 4, 2018 we were officially acquired by LivaNova, we are excited for what the future holds for the ever-growing TandemLife platform.
