What Is Canberra Data Centres?
Canberra Data Centres (CDC) is a carrier neutral data centre provider established in 2007. CDC is the largest provider of data centre services to the Australian Government. CDC currently operates data centres over two campus sites both in the Australian Capital Territory. The ecosystem has proved particularly attractive for those suppliers who wish to provide services to the government agencies, the majority of which are located in Canberra. Increasingly providers such as Intralinks (source: Intralinks.com) are looking to CDC as a base for Australian and Asia Pacific based services. Additionally, Australian enterprise organisations are considering CDC for its unique macro environment in the nation's capital and the significant benefits; risk, financial and operational as an alternative to owned data centres or competitive state based capital city locations and as a flexible provider of true DCaaS with the ability to pay as you grow inherent within the model. One of CDC's competitive advantages is the world-class efficiency and the dynamic, ultra high density capability. The high energy efficiency can be attributed to the use of free air cooling as part of the innovative cooling architecture which does not consume any water unlike most traditional data centre models, and most importantly, to the modular and granular building block design of the end to end service itself. All through the facilities, including the data halls, mains power, UPS, cooling systems and cooling distribution units, CDC operates on a 2N basis which provides dual redundancy and concurrent maintainability on multiple levels. Additionally, the dual campus sites themselves are geographically separated far enough as to allow for excellent DR and business continuity contingencies, but close enough together with
