What Is Boston Prep?

Boston Prep's mission is to prepare students to succeed in four-year colleges and embody, in thought and action, lifelong ethical growth. Opened in 2004, Boston Prep is in its fourteenth year of operation, with 463 students in grades 6 12 and 224 alumni. Boston Prep has proven one of the strongest schools in the city of Boston and in the nation, helping students achieve at high levels, get into college, and succeed in college. With seven classes of alumni, 100% of graduates have been accepted to four-year colleges, and 99% have enrolled in college the semester following graduation. 83% of alumni are persisting in college - a rate twice the national college graduation rate and nearly four times the rate for their low-income, urban peers of color. Boston Prep students consistently outperform their peers across the city of Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on the MCAS exams. US News and World Report has recognized Boston Prep as a top performing high school, earning gold and silver medals annually. Boston Prep was awarded the inaugural Pozen Prize for Charter Schools, created to recognize academic excellence and quality learning environments in Greater Boston charter schools. In order to achieve the above results, Boston Prep offers an integrated set of services and supports across middle school, high school, and college. Academically, Boston Prep is characterized by rigorous, standards aligned curriculum delivered through high expectations and engaging instruction. To help encourage lifelong ethical growth, Boston Prep provides a safe, nurturing environment where students are known, recognized, and supported by multiple adults through the use of common practices grounded in the language of our virtues. Robust professional development is a core of our foundation to grow excellent teachers, as is learning from our alumni to refine our programs.
