Bluestem Communities is the overarching organization of two continuing-care retirement communities, Kidron Bethel Village of North Newton, Kan., and Schowalter Villa of Hesston, Kan. More than 700 residents live on Bluestem Communities campuses. Bluestem Communities offers 393 independent living residences for those ages 62-plus. Residential options include townhomes, duplexes, high-rise apartments, and income-based HUD housing. In addition, the Campus Woods Estates addition in North Newton offers distinctive homes in a residential neighborhood connected to the Kidron Bethel campus. The Prairie Lakes community, under development at Schowalter Villa, will feature exceptional homes, natural Kansas grasses and plant life, two lakes, and numerous sidewalks and trails. Both Kidron Bethel and Schowalter Villa are located next door to college campuses, offering opportunities for interaction between Bluestem Communities residents and the students at Bethel College and Hesston College. A full-service restaurant, Water's Edge, is located on the Hesston campus, as are a community childcare center, and a short-term rehabilitation facility, Progressive Recovery Academy. The North Newton Wellness Center and Harvest Grounds Coffee Shop are located at Kidron Bethel Village, and the Hesston Wellness Center is at Schowalter Villa. Both serve residents, as well as the greater community. MyMaid is Bluestem Communities housekeeping business, serving residents of both campuses and the surrounding communities. Assisted living and health care suites also are available on Bluestem Communities campuses, providing award-winning, personalized care. Both Bethel Health Care Center, at Kidron Bethel Village, and Schowalter Villa earned 5-star ratings in U.S. News and World Report's Best Nursing Homes list.
