What Is BlueCarbonLab?
We are an Australian research group based at Deakin University. Most of our research effort is presently directed towards capitalising on ‘Blue Carbon’, which refers to the powerful ability of coastal vegetated ecosystems to sequester carbon, and thereby help mitigate climate change. \n\nOur approach is multi-disciplinary, spanning the fields of chemistry, ecology, microbiology, economics, molecular biology, and policy. Our main research lines include:\n\n•\tWetland Carbon (Blue Carbon & Teal Carbon)\n•\tEcosystem services\n•\tEcosystem restoration\n•\tCitizen Science\n•\tMarine Biosecurity\n•\tDecommissioning of oil & gas infrastructure\n\nThe BCL team is led by A/ prof Dr. Peter Macreadie and includes 10 research fellows, 11 PhD candidates, 1 project coordinator & 1 research assistant.
