What Is Banyan Biomarkers?
Banyan Biomarkers, Inc. was founded in March 2002 as Daimonion Diagnostics, LLC. In July 2004, the company was incorporated in the state of Florda as Banyan Biomarkers, Inc. The company was founded by Drs. Ron Hayes, Kevin Wang and Nancy Denslow with the vision of developing and commercializing biomarker diagnostic tests that were inspired by academic research at the University of Florida. Dr. Wang and Dr. Hayes established the Center for Traumatic Brain Injuries Studies and the Center for Neuroproteomics and Biomarkers within the Evelyn F. and William McKnight Brain Institute of the University of Florida. These programs have focused on neuroproteomic approaches for identifying potential brain injury biomarkers, and the use of animal models and clinical studies to reveal relationships between biomarkers and brain injury. These studies have produced an extensive pipeline of potential biomarkers which have been licensed to Banyan Biomarkers. Since the company’s inception, Banyan Biomarkers has made significant progress in developing and clinically validating novel ELISAs for TBI biomarkers which have establised a strong relationship to injury severity.
