Apli is Latin America's first on-demand jobs marketplace that provides certified, operational workers for projects as short as one day. Our mission is to provide flexible employment opportunities to millions of students, parents, part-time workers and unemployed people. We do this by connecting workers to companies that struggle to keep up with the high rotation of operational personnel or experience demand peaks. We are currently working with dozens of restaurants, bars, call centers, events companies and corporates in Mexico City and have thousands of registered candidates. Apli was founded by Vera Makarov and Jose Maria Pertusa in April 2016 after they realized how technology could improve the slow and unreliable process of finding operational workers. Since Vera and Jose met at Harvard Business School in 2008, they have cofounded three internet ventures in Latin America. They´ve also been happily married since 2012. Both are passionate about making an impact through entrepreneurship. Vera previously led the food-delivery startup Hellofood Mexico (sold to Just Eat in 2016) and worked as an investment manager at Bain Capital and VC funds Blue Orchard and Ignia. Jose previously led marketing and partnerships at Linio, the largest online retailer in Latin America, was growth manager for Facebook in Spanish-speaking Latam and started two ecommerce companies in Europe. Apli´s cofounder and CTO, Volker Mueller, is an experienced technical leader with a background in ecommerce and fintech. Apli´s cofounder and commercial director Yeri Arenas has a strong international background in hospitality and was previously Hellofood Mexico´s chief sales officer. Apli is funded by ALLVP, Sonar, BlueBox Ventures and strategic angel investors in Mexico and Europe with a background in hospitality and on-demand hiring. In October 2016, Apli launched the world´s first on-demand jobs chatbot for Facebook Messenger and won Seedstars award for "best Mexican startup".
