What Is Animal Welfare League Qld?

Since 1959, Animal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ) has been caring for abandoned and stray animals across South East Queensland. Our promise is to never euthanise a healthy, sociable or treatable animal in our care. We will always keep our promise, but we cant sustain it on our own. AWLQ's commitment to working with Councils and the community to reduce euthanasia rates and provide animals a second chance in a safe and loving home has been unwavering. As a result we have saved the lives of over 100,000 animals since our inception. We provide affordable veterinary care through our Community Vet Clinics and will never turn away a suffering animal regardless of their owners financial circumstances. As a charity, not for profit, DGR registered organisation which receives no government funding for our welfare work, we rely solely on the generous support of our community. With you by our side, we can continue our lifesaving work. OUR COMMUNITY SUCCESS SNAPSHOT (FROM 2017/2018 FINANCIAL YEAR): We rehomed 6,373 animals, of which 430 were senior cats and dogs We desexed 3,962 animals, microchipped 3,881 animals and provided over 30,775 medical treatments We succeeded in our promise to never euthanise a healthy, sociable or treatable animal in our care Our Community Vet Clinics (Ipswich and Coombabah) consulted on over 21,800 cases We now have 13 Op Shop retail outlets We deliver community programs including Golden Hearts, National Desexing Network and Getting 2 Zero
