Ameriwood Industries, Inc. (formerly known as Charleswood Corporation), is a leading manufacturer of Ready-To-Assemble (RTA) furniture with facilities in Wright City, Missouri, Tiffin, Ohio, and Dowagiac, Michigan. Ameriwood,(then known as Charleswood), had it's beginning in 1977, in Wright City, Missouri, in a 200,000 square foot facility. An additional 100,000 square feet was added in 1986. In 1990, Charleswood was purchased by Dorel Industries, a publicly traded Canadian consumer products company. With Dorel's help and guiding hand, Charleswood continued to grow. In 1994, another 200,000 square foot facility was purchased in Missouri. In 1998, Charleswood purchased all the outstanding stock of Ameriwood Industries International,Inc., a longtime successful player in the RTA industry. With the addition, approximately one million square feet of operating facilities were added. In late 1998, the (merged) companies were renamed Ameriwood Industries, Inc. Today, Ameriwood Industries maintains more than one and a half million square feet of manufacturing, distribution, and showroom facilities. The company employs over one thousand employees with major facilities in Michigan, Ohio, and Missouri. Ameriwood is squarely entrenched in the national retail market channels with a customer base including some of the largest publicly traded retailers in the world including discount chains, home centers, office superstores and other major mass merchants. Ameriwood manufactures a broad array of office, entertainment, kitchen, storage, and bedroom furniture.
