While other competitors have come and gone in the St. Louis and Midwest market over the past 34 years, Alpine Shop has continued to offer the area the best in outdoor recreation. Alpine Shop has been honored in the past year by two major awards being named one of the Top 25 Independent Outdoor Specialty Retailers by Outdoor Business Magazine and by earning the honor, for the second year in a row, of Ski Magazine's Gold Medal Ski Shop Award. Outdoor Business had this to say about their 2007 awards: The 2007 Outdoor Business Top 25 Independent Outdoor Specialty Retailers reflect best practices in selling outdoor apparel, footwear and equipment, and are taking leadership roles in local, regional and national environmental initiatives. They clearly understand that industry growth comes from reaching out to their own communities and introducing new people to the thrills of camping, hiking, paddling, climbing, snow sports and other outdoor pursuits. In short, these 25 retailers embody the best of our industry. Throughout all of North America, there are only 59 retailers (only eight in the Midwest) that are named Gold Medal Ski Shops by Ski Magazine. Alpine Shop has earned that distinction for the last two years.
