What Is Alabama Credit Union?

The mission of the Alabama Credit Union League is to provide the environment, leadership and services to enable credit unions to fulfill their potential as unique financial institutions serving a growing family of members. Established in Birmingham, AL, in 1934, the Alabama Credit Union League is a statewide trade association that represents the 176 credit unions and their 1.4 million members in Alabama. Credit unions are not-for-profit financial institutions providing affordable financial services to people from all walks of life. In addition to its role in legislative and public representation, the Alabama Credit Union League also offers a wide variety of services to its members, including: education and training; auditing; marketing; human resources management; small credit union consulting; and technical assistance. The League is also the home of CU-VOTE, a consumer advocacy council; CU Lending, the League's home mortgage area; and EPL, Inc. a data processing company formed as a joint venture between eight Alabama credit unions and the League. Historically, the Alabama Credit Union League has taken an active role in state and national politics, contributing steadily to campaigns through Federal and state Political Action Committees (PACs). The Alabama Credit Union League is a full service financial industry trade association, representing its members across the state and the nation, and responding quickly their needs.
