What Is Aberdeenshire Council?

Aberdeenshire Council is a premium employer, offering employees the opportunity to work more flexibly — enabling them to balance work and personal commitments, achieving greater variety in what they do. The Worksmart Initiative looks at new ways of working which will make Aberdeenshire Council more efficient and able to provide a better service for our customers. Worksmart gives employees the chance to spend less time travelling to and from places and more time to do the things that matter, like delivering quality services and reducing the additional hours we work. We promote work life balance, respecting and allowing employees their individual right to a fulfilled life inside and outside work, while ensuring quality of service to the community. The authority has regularly been polled at the top of previous surveys carried out by the Bank of Scotland. For the fourth time in seven years, residents of Aberdeenshire have the best quality of life in Scotland according to the annual Bank of Scotland Quality of Life Survey. As well as winning the best rural area for quality of life in 2008 and 2009 and coming second last year, Aberdeenshire also topped the poll for the best quality of life overall in Scotland in 2009 and 2010
