It was the foresight of a group of local businessmen in 1920 who saw the need for a bank in this area. At the time, the closest banks were in Somerville and Whitehouse. Some people wanted the Bank in Peapack - the lower end of town - while others wanted it in Gladstone. It was decided to build the Bank in the center of the two towns. Local businessmen's planning and hard work contributed to the establishment of The Peapack-Gladstone National Bank in 1921.
