The Bristol County Sheriff's Office is a group of law enforcement and corrections professionals dedicated to the safety and security of residents of Bristol County, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the United States of America. Thomas M. Hodgson has been the Sheriff of Bristol County since 1997.
The Sheriff's Office is made up of several facilities and divisions. The main hub is the Dartmouth campus on Faunce Corner Road, which features the Bristol County House of Correction, the Women's Center, an ICE detention facility as well as administrative offices and other departments. The Sheriff's Office also manages and operates the Ash Street Jail, the oldest operating jail in the U.S., in New Bedford and its regional lock-up. There is also a civil division, K9, law enforcement and investigations and many others.
