About
Trans Ova Genetics grew out a desire to provide superior reproductive technology to seedstock producers in the Midwest. In 1980 Dr. David Faber and Dr. Daryl Funk had the foresight to provide "on farm" embryo transfer services in conjunction with their large animal veterinary practice. In a very short period of time, the demand for embryo transfer services grew significantly, and a limited "in clinic" facility was developed to house donor cows and recipients. In 1985 the "in clinic" program was expanded to the current facility located a few miles north of Sioux Center, Iowa. Currently, the home base has a capacity for 350 beef donors and 2000 recipients. The donors are housed in modern open front buildings in groups of ten to fifteen. Large exercise lots are adjacent. The "Heat Watch" system is in use to monitor heats on donors.
