About
Founded in 1981, The iO Theater (Formerly known as 'The ImprovOlympic') is the world-famous flashpoint of comic creativity that has spawned an entire generation of America’s best and brightest entertainers. Thousands of people have trained and performed at iO’s Chicago and Los Angeles theaters, including some of the most recognizable names in show business like Mike Myers, Chris Farley, Tina Fey, David Koechner, Adam McKay, Amy Poehler, Seth Meyers, Tim Meadows, and many, many more. The iO Theater was founded by its current owner and Artistic Director, Charna Halpern, and her late business and artistic partner, Del Close. In addition to presenting improv and sketch comedy shows every night, the iO Theater provides improv training classes as well as custom tailored corporate workshops. When it comes to Comedy, we’re all Business. Do you want entertainment for your conference, meeting or celebration? Let iO put together a hilarious improv show to bring down the house or have us write customized material to make light of issues related to your company or business field. If you can dream it up, we can handle it. We put the “Fun” in Functional iO’s corporate training sessions are 100% customized to specifically target and meet the needs of our clients.
