The Matagorda County Hospital District (MCHD) was established in 1965 by an act of the Texas Legislature to serve the health care needs of Matagorda County residents. A seven-member Board of Managers is appointed by the Commissioners’ Court to govern the management of the facility and to guide major health-related initiatives. The Hospital District Includes: • Matagorda Regional Medical Center with Level IV Trauma Center designation • 20,000 sq ft stand-alone wellness and outpatient rehabilitation center • 40,000 sq ft Doman Freeman Phillips Medical Office Building • Closely aligned multi-specialty medical group practice with several locations and walk-in access • The Matagorda Regional Medical Center Foundation • Multiple public health, community health, and WIC clinic locations FAST FACTS: • 30-bed Medical-Surgical Unit; 6-bed ICU; 10-bed Women’s Center; 12-bed Senior Care (58 total beds) • Approximately 21,000 Emergency Department visits per year • Approximately 500 births per year in the MRMC Women’s Center • Approximately 2,500 inpatient and 45,000 outpatient encounters per year • Modern facilities with all main campus structures built in 2009 or later • Located about 75 miles southwest of downtown Houston and 65 miles from the metro Houston area • Weekend Urgent Care Clinic located on campus in the Doman Freeman Phillips Medical Office Building • Academic Medical Center affiliation (hospital and medical group) • Professional Services and Management Agreements in support of regional partner organizations
