Store Opening Solutions (SOS) was founded in July 1995 as a subsidiary of Famous Fixtures, a store fixture manufacturer and a wholly owned subsidiary of Famous Footwear. SOS' management analyzed the supply chain process for store fixture distribution and installation and recognized that significant savings could be achieved by consolidating the delivery of store fixtures and graphics to retailers, as well as providing the installation/merchandising service component as part of an overall integrated project solution. Over time, the SOS concept was refined, a centrally located distribution center established, and experienced distribution center management and project management staff brought together, and in the fall of 1995 Store Opening Solutions began to provide these services to Retailers. To support operations, a web-based inventory management system (SOS Online) was developed and subsequently a web-based project management system (PRIMAS) was created and implemented providing SOS Customers and their vendors the ability to monitor and manage their projects and the inventory online. The SOS vision is to be the industries' choice as the "Single Source" provider of integrated logistics services. In January 1998, the Marmon Group acquired Famous Fixtures and Store Opening Solutions. Since that time, significant investments have been made in management and staff infrastructure, facilities, and systems capabilities. The Marmon Group is an international association of more than 100 autonomous manufacturing and service companies with collective sales of $7 billion. Forbes magazine places The Marmon Group at 35th on its list of the largest privately held companies in the United States. Store Opening Solutions is a member of the Marmon Retail Services Group. In 2005, Marmon purchased Alexander-Otto (AO), a company that had previously been a long-time strategic partner in the installation business with SOS. The President of AO reports to the President of SOS. Alexander-Otto is an employee based company that has been in business for over 10 years and provides a major component of our services package and graphics installations to the retail market. AO crews are based nationwide, dispatched in company trucks that are complete with tools, miscellaneous fasteners, and trained personnel with the knowledge to insure a complete and compliant installation of any graphic elements package. AO presently partners with many Graphics Manufacturing Companies, in numerous installation projects, and continues to provide staffing in all aspects of field operations and management support. Store Opening Solutions employs over 300 people, half of which work in or out of the Murfreesboro, TN National Distribution Center. Others work out of offices in Boston, Denver, and Grand Rapids, MI. The National Distribution Center in Murfreesboro consists of an over 2 million square foot warehousing complex, including retailer occupied warehouse space and the corporate offices. SOS has been providing installation services for over 10 years and has over 60 employee installation teams, strategically located across the United States. Today, Store Opening Solutions has the capability of addressing any and all project requirements in a seamless, technology driven fashion. Beginning with the inbound transportation of fixtures from vendor locations, to warehousing, consolidating, tracking, picking and shipping inventory, delivery to a specific store or in-market depot, to the installation and merchandising of fixtures, graphics and equipment at a store location , one vendor, one bill, one point of contact , NO headaches.
