The Conservation Department is responsible for the day to day operation of the Conservation Commission. This includes:
-Reviewing applications for work near wetlands, as well as drafting, issuing, and monitoring wetland permits to ensure compliance with the Wetlands Protection Act
-Providing residents with education and outreach information on the wetland permitting process
-Managing Weston’s 1,800 acres of Conservation Land
-Administering a number of land management contracts
-Conducting baseline documentation of conservation land and Conservation Restrictions
-Monitoring conservation land for encroachments, and
-Collaborating with Weston Forest and Trail Association (WFTA) for trail management and education
-Collaborating with Land’s Sake, Inc. for community farming and education, sustainable forestry, and maple sugaring
