Lilac Center has successfully provided a wide range of psychological services with a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) focus. DBT teaches problem solving techniques designed to bring a healthy balance to thoughts, feelings and actions.
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a serious mental illness characterized by pervasive instability in moods, interpersonal relationships, self-image, and behavior. This instability often disrupts family and work life, long-term planning, and the individual’s sense of self-identity. DBT has shown to help those suffering from BPD through individual and group therapy sessions in which interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance/reality acceptance skills, emotion regulation, and mindfulness skills are taught.
