The place for diverse, exciting and engaging theatre in the heart of the East Midlands. Curve, Leicester's state of the art theatre, is situated at the very centre of the Cultural Quarter. The building designed by award-winning architect Rafael Viñoly, is a sight to behold — curved, as the name suggests, and made of 1,192 tonnes of steel, and 4600m2 of glass. Curve is a producing theatre, which means that there are a number of shows produced right here in Leicester — which gives us West End quality shows at Midlands prices! Curve also presents a wonderful variety of touring shows. Curve was officially opened by HRH the Queen on 4 December 2008. Offering an 'inside-out- theatre experience, Curve is unlike any other theatre - there is no traditional backstage area separating the world of theatre-making from the public showcasing modern theatre here in the heart of Leicester's Cultural Quarter. Commissioned by Leicester City Council, the building has won two prestigious awards from the Royal Institute of British Architects and the ProCon Leicestershire Building of the year award.
