About
The National CASA/GAL Association is a network of more than 948 state organizations and local programs in 49 states and the District of Columbia that recruit, train and support volunteers to advocate in court for the best interests of children who have been abused or neglected. Appointed by judges to gather information, observe, and make recommendations, CASA or GAL volunteers make sure these children don’t get lost in the overburdened child welfare system or languish in foster care. Volunteers stay with their children until they are placed in safe, permanent homes. For many, their CASA or GAL volunteer will be the one consistent adult in their lives.
