Learfield Communications was founded in 1972 as the Missouri Network, Inc., a small farm network heard over six Missouri radio stations. It has grown into a diverse media enterprise that employs 180 people and manages multimedia and marketing rights for 19 major Division I athletics programs. Learfield has two operating divisions: Sports Management, based in Plano, Texas, and News/Agriculture, based in Jefferson City. Its sports division was founded in 1975.
